- What does IVC stand for?
IVC stands for Inter Varsity Club, this name has remained unchanged since 1946.
- How many members do we have?
Nottingham IVC is constantly growing. For current membership numbers please see our introduction. There are approximately 3,000 IVC members nationally, with each club welcoming visitors from other clubs in the Association.
- Do you have age limits?
Nottingham IVC does not have age limits. We have a wide age range of members, some members are in their 30’s and others are in their 60’s. We have a mix of singles and couples.
- Do you do introductions?
No, we are not a singles club or dating agency. We are a mixture of unmarried, married and divorced men and women, with or without children. Naturally, some people do pair off, but most people join to gain new friends of both sexes.
- Do I have to be a graduate to join?
Originally, IVC was set up for graduates. However, these days we attract people from various walks of life, and what matters is that you share some of our common interests, whether sporting, cultural or social.
- Would I have to organise anything?
The success of IVC depends on enough people organising activities far enough in advance to advertise them in a monthly newsletter. Unlike some groups, we do not insist our members to organise any activities, but hopefully after you have become a member you would want to share your own interests with other people.
- What sort of activities do you organise?
We arrange a variety of activities – these can include meals out, trying different international cuisines, theatre trips, pub quizzes, days out, outdoor activities, cinema trips. Please see our Events Calendar for details of events we are organising over the next month.
We also run the ever popular ‘Nottingham Curry Club’, details of which can be found on Meetup website (click here for further details).

You can come along to our regular weekly club nights. We meet most Tuesday evenings from 8pm onwards at the Ferry Inn, Main Street, Wilford Village, Nottingham – please see the events calendar on this website for more details. We usually meet in the room behind the bar.
